Research: The Intersection of Air Pollution and High vs. Low Income: Examining the Effects and Role of Air Pollution in Socioeconomic Disparities
Awards: Somers Science Fair 2022
Research Location: Sarah Lawrence Center for the Urban River at Beczak
Abstract:

This research is such an important topic. The way Ava connected air pollution exposure to socioeconomic disparities really hits home — it's not just an environmental issue, it's a justice issue. I found the abstract especially compelling because it highlights how low-income communities often bear the brunt of pollution without having the resources to advocate for change. It's inspiring to see a young researcher tackling something with such real-world impact. Looking forward to following her work and reading more about the findings from the Sarah Lawrence Center for the Urban River. Great to see this kind of science getting recognition at the Somers Science Fair. Thanks for sharing! audio to text
