YONKERS, NEW YORK, December 9, 2025 – AT&T* and Human-IT provided Yonkers Partners in Education (YPIE) with 230 refurbished laptops, which were distributed today to YPIE high school and college students to support their academic and career journeys—from completing high school coursework and college applications to advancing through college classes and preparing for future careers.
Funded by an AT&T contribution, these computers will equip students with the technology they need for college and career success.
“This contribution isn’t just helping students today, it is preparing them for the careers of tomorrow,” said Sam Wallis, CEO of Yonkers Partners in Education. “These laptops will support students through high school, into college, and as they begin building professional skills that will serve them for a lifetime. We are grateful to AT&T for this donation and for investing in our students’ potential and their futures.”
According to U.S. Census Bureau data, millions nationwide still don’t have access to the internet or connected devices needed to fully participate in the online world, an issue known as the digital divide.
This effort is part of AT&T’s initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030. This includes distributing thousands of computers to students and their families across New York since 2021.
“At AT&T, we’re committed to helping ensure every community can thrive in the digital age. Access to connectivity, devices, and digital education is vital so that students of all ages can take full advantage of technology and put their imaginations to work,” said John Emra, President, AT&T Atlantic Region. “AT&T is proud to collaborate with organizations like YPIE and are grateful for their continued efforts to help close the digital divide in Yonkers.”
Across New York, AT&T is investing in technology, digital literacy and digital learning solutions to help students and families succeed. In addition to laptop distributions, the company has opened 13 AT&T Connected Learning Centers to provide a free space within communities where people can access high-speed internet, computers and educational resources.
