YPIE Majors

YPIE Scholars can select from many different Majors to enhance their skills and learn about future career pathways.

We are very proud of all the YPIE Scholars who presented their
impressive financial pitches, in-depth science research projects, creative business plans, compelling journalism, artful debates, powerful films, and more.

In partnership with the NYC Urban Debate League, YPIE’s debate major trains students in the art of crafting and delivering effective arguments. Through this program, YPIE students will compete in national competitions.

In partnership with the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), YPIE's entrepreneurship major empowers students to grow their entrepreneurial mindset, and develop and create their own business.  See the business plans from some of our YPIE Entrepreneurs!

Explore and learn about the natural world of Yonkers through guided nature walks! This major focuses on the therapeutic powers of being outdoors, as well as diving into the academic discipline of environmental science. Students will participate in the New York State Envirothon competition each May. See some of their explorations!

A partnership with the Jacob Burns Film Center and the DMAC/YoFi in Yonkers brings real-world experience to students learning about and creating their own original films.  Watch some of our students' films.

With the generous support of Webster Bank, YPIE students dive deep into economic principles, investment strategies, and personal finance, culminating in a final presentation of pitching a stock to financial professionals.

Thanks to The Cigna Group Foundation, YPIE students explore career pathways in healthcare, study healthcare challenges in the community, and brainstorm solutions to address issues through education and community action.

YPIE Scholars learn to design, build, and program robots, while working towards participation in the FIRST Robotics Competition. In addition to acquiring technical expertise, students develop their teamwork and leadership skills as they collaborate to build an industrial-sized robot each year.

In partnership with Regeneron, YPIE’s Science Research major enables students to develop their own research project over the course of three years under the mentorship of professional researchers and scientists.  Learn more about this program.
