JACOB SCHOFIELD

Director, YPIE Regeneron Science Research

Jake joined YPIE in 2017 to establish a new science research initiative sponsored by Regeneron. He currently teaches over 60 highly motivated students who conduct original scientific research over three years. These students earn up to 12 college credits and compete in nationally recognized high school science competitions, such as the Regeneron Science Talent Search, JSHS, and WESEF.


After graduating from Wesleyan University as a Biology major, Jake spent several years teaching and cycling in India, Nepal, Vietnam, and Colombia. He then taught Biology and Math at the IB-accredited Colegio Suizo in Queretaro, Mexico. He returned to the States in 2016 to live in Yonkers, become a New York State certified teacher, and attend Columbia’s Teachers College, where he earned an M.A. in Secondary Science Education
