June 2025

Anita Nordal is currently an independent consultant to a large not-for-profit, where she focuses on government and foundation grant-writing. Anita began her career in the not-for-profit space after graduate school, helping to establish and run a division of a model demonstration employment program for parents receiving public assistance. She then spent several years at the New York City Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget, overseeing the analytic component of budget preparation of the City’s social service programs.

After giving birth to her two children, Anita worked part-time at New York University’s School of Medicine as the Assistant Budget Director for Capital programs while also earning her post-master’s certificate in social studies education. In a nod to her family of educators, she then taught history and economics at White Plains High School before becoming the Assistant Dean for Community Outreach at Manhattanville College School of Education.

Anita has volunteered for YPIE since 2016 and has been a graduation coach, essay coach and essay captain; she also serves on the Volunteer Advisory Board. Anita’s volunteer experience with YPIE has been rewarding beyond expectation; she is honored to take part in the mission of such an exemplary organization and to spend time with the amazing students who participate in YPIE’s programming.

Anita holds a BA in History from Brown University and an M.Ed. in International and Comparative Education from Columbia University Teachers College. Anita and Kevin Conroy, her husband of nearly 33 years, currently live in Armonk. They have two grown children: Emma Conroy, who lives in LA, and Aidan Conroy, who lives in Brooklyn. Anita enjoys gardening, travelling and anything to do with sewing and fabric arts.
