The New YPIE College Zone is Coming Soon!

Updated: Aug 25, 2019

Our new state-of-the-art learning space will be opening spring 2019!

The YPIE College Zone will bring together hundreds of students from the Yonkers Public High Schools to learn, be inspired, and be part of a community on the path to college success!

The first YPIE College Zone opened in spring 2014. Since then, we’ve grown our program exponentially to include students across all 8 high schools in Yonkers. And, we’ve just welcomed more than 180 ninth grade YPIE Scholars, our largest incoming class yet.

What’s new at the College Zone?

  • More Space: The new College Zone will be more than 5,200 square feet, significantly larger than the current 750 square feet!

  • Assembly Hall: A central gathering place which will accommodate 100+ people and be used for teambuilding, enrichment activities, family workshops, and more.

  • Coaching Rooms: Smaller, private rooms for one to one meetings with mentors and coaches, including one designated for a social worker to meet individually with students who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, or other mental health issues.

  • Learning Labs: Six classrooms to accommodate 30+ students to be used for academic and life skills instruction, as well as advisory meetings and mindfulness exercises.

  • Kitchen: Students can't learn if they're hungry after a long day at school! A dedicated space to accommodate daily nutritional needs and culinary experiences will house a refrigerator, microwave ovens, and abundant after school snacks.

As we put on the finishing touches, will you help us to "Spark the Zone" by selecting items from our registry or making a donation to YPIE? We need everything from pencils to a projector!

Contributions will be used to buy items on the registry and since YPIE is sales tax-exempt, your donation will go further to ensure that our students have what they need.

Every gift will make a meaningful difference for our students as they embark on learning in this new space.

Thank you for putting our students on the path to college success!
