Happy 2009! Yonkers Partners in Education is off to a great start in the new year. However, as I write this Yonkers Public School budgets are being slashed and this will have a severe impact on the 24,000 students in the district.

Public education funds like YPIE serving low-income school districts have an important role in supporting quality education. We need your help now more than ever!

Please consider investing in the future of our children.

SAT Prep Class Kicks Off 2nd Year

Building on the success of an amazing first year, Yonkers Partners in Education kicked-off the second year of its popular SAT Prep program for Yonkers high school juniors.

The twelve-session class, administered by industry leader Kaplan Test Prep, has already made a huge difference for Yonkers students applying to college. In the 2007-2008 school year, students who took this class increased their scores by an average of 152 points and eighty students increased their scores by as much as 200 to 400 points.

The 2009 SAT Prep program, generously sponsored by the Thomas and Agnes Carvel Foundation and the TD Bank North Charitable Foundation, is free for eligible students.

New College Center at Lincoln HS
Thanks to a generous grant from Entergy, YPIE will be opening its third College Center at Lincoln High School this spring.

Students will gain access to a wide range of resources and services to help navigate the complex college admissions process.
