Yonkers Partners in Education has hit the ground running in 2010 and our work could not come at a better time for the Yonkers Public Schools. With potentially devastating budget cuts looming from Albany, students in Yonkers will feel the direct impact of these cuts each and every day in their classrooms. While YPIE can not replace teachers and other critical educational services being cut, we can play an important role in helping to increase the number of students who attend college and who graduate with a post-secondary plan.
Through the programs and services being delivered in our five college centers throughout the city, YPIE is inspiring a record number of college applications, helping to increase SAT scores, securing new scholarship dollars, exposing students to greater possibilities, and expanding their hopes and dreams. We strongly believe that a solid education is the best road out of poverty and that for the 74% of Yonkers students who currently live at or below the poverty line, this is their chance for a better life. We hope you are inspired to help us by volunteering in one of our college centers or by making a donation.
