SMART(Students and Mature Adults Read Together)

Mentoring
Description: SMART is an intergenerational literacy program that pairs older adult mentors with students who are reading below grade level. Provides one on one assistance. Mentoring relationships stimulate students academic interest and commitment .

STACK(Students Teach Adults Computer Knowledge)

Reading Buddies After School

Summer Reading Buddies

Summer Program
Description: Volunteers work with children one on one to assist with summer homework assignments as assigned by the Yonkers Public Schools. Additionally, parents are provided with information to foster literacy in the home

Holocaust Education Program
Category: Art and Culture
Description: speakers(who are survivors and hidden children) and an exhibit on the Holocaust. Students learn about survival,respect for differences and tolerance.Students submit essays for a contest. Adult docents volunteer to assist students.

Scholarship Program

Description: 20 scholarships totally $15,500 are awarded to Juniors and Seniors living in Yonkers. Program recognizes outstanding achievements in a wide range o disciplines.

Description: intergenerational early literacy program that uses older adult volunteers to read with children in pediatric waiting rooms. Children receive free books and guardians receive information on literacy
